Installation & Compliance Technician – Refrigerated Cabinets (North Island)

We’re looking for a practical, detail-focused Installation & Compliance Technician to manage the delivery and installation of supermarket refrigeration cabinet projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where you’ll take ownership of refrigeration cabinet projects from arrival through to final installation and compliance sign-off. You’ll assemble and install cabinets in supermarket environments, ensuring every unit is completed to a high standard and ready for operation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive, inspect and prepare refrigeration cabinets and components
• Assemble and configure cabinets (shelving, lighting, trims, doors, etc.)
• Install cabinets on-site in line with layout plans and specifications
• Manage the process from supplier through to on-site setup
• Coordinate deliveries and staging in line with project timelines
• Identify, order and fit accessories and replacement parts
• Complete compliance checks and sign off installations
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
• Work with project managers, suppliers and site teams
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and work quality
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, organised and detail-focused, with experience in sheet metal, assembly, or similar practical work. The role requires the ability to work away from home for up to eight weeks per year across various job sites, with flexibility to work between 24 and 40+ hours per week depending on demand.
Key Requirements:
• Experience in refrigeration, HVAC, sheet metal or similar
• Strong assembly skills and mechanical aptitude
• High attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings
• Ability to manage tasks from start to finish
• Strong organisation and coordination skills
• Good communication and a proactive approach
• Full NZ driver licence (Class 4 and forklift licence preferred)
• Capable of performing physical tasks including lifting and manoeuvring heavy equipment.

LOCATION, TRAVEL & HOURS
This role is based in the North Island with travel depending on project locations, including occasional South Island work.
Hours will vary as follows:
• Minimum 24 hours during quieter periods
• Overtime paid after 40 hours
• Longer hours expected during active project phases
• Approximately eight weeks of remote work across different locations
